Joseph met Samuel at a science fair when he was young. joseph can come up with ideas but not be able to build them, and Samuel can build things but not come up with any ideas. they stuck together like glue, working on projects together while they grow up. eventually, they moved into a cabin together to work on projects. until joseph had to go (for undisclosed reasons). later on, he started selling sold his ideas to big corporations, he didn't like it but it paid the bills.

joseph has a paranoid and sarcastic personality, however, that does not get in the way of him being a good person to his friends.
